Selah 2020
A place where nobody knows my name is where I always wanted to be, sitting down right next to nothing, leaving enough room for all the gods that rule over me and the devils I’ve been condemned to the zeitgeist I exist in. I have become lost in the impossibility to unlearn my ways. When I was little, I used to strike out matches to burn myself every summer just to prove to the other kids I wasn’t a soft looking boy and that I had scars too, now I burn through lovers striking out irrational reasons why we cannot be. They don’t get it so rather than walk about with the face of confusion I pull on a mask never for anyone to uncover all the secrets buried inside me waiting to sprout. I become a tree and all my children are branches of me. But I feel sorry for them who have never felt any of these things for a heart who ages without exposure to love must be a lonely one like a body without scars
