But a Select Few

For the longest you were the only one

which made me wonder what made you so special

I didn't miss the anxiety or the feeling of getting caught

I guess I just needed to know what I was missing

what I found was a lot more important than my intial goal

you see, there was someone else.

Someone other than you occupied my mind and invaded my dreams

It made me realize that you aren't the one

I didn't miss out on my soulmate and you're not the one that got away

for a brief part of my life you were special to me

not everyone can grab my attention like that

but at least I know you're a select few

and not my one and only.
