Self
Explore from within and hide from the world,
reveal only clothes, faces; absurd.
Grades, accomplishments, winning at games,
keep it a secret you may feel shame.
You know it quite well, it's dragging you down,
you can't escape it, it's shouting out loud.
Reveal only pieces as proof it exists,
over exposure would be remiss.
I've gotten to know it from birth to today,
yet it remains a stranger distant and afraid.
Like age to the old who can't avoid one more year,
self will be with you, it will persevere.
