Self-Confusion
I didn’t think it was possible to forget who I was
Until I looked in the mirror
Or until I heard myself sing
There was something I didn’t recognize
The first time I met me
A confusing policy of where was I
Who was I
What was I doing?
How can I make other people know the real me
When I can’t even get her to appear in my mind
So don’t tell me I’m not good enough
When all you can see is my silhouette;
Find a courtesy to look past my mistakes
I know it’s hard to concentrate only on the little things
But just find the way that our hands fold together as a perfect origami
Or how your laugh and mine seem to harmonize.
Of course I don’t want to sugarcoat this moment
That’s not what life is supposed to be
But I have my secret identity
And you have yours;
Maybe one day we’ll be able to knock each others walls down
And they’ll be able to meet.
