Self Defense
It's another long night,
Wrapped in my blanket
Crippled in the corner,
Darkness taking my sight.
Strength decayed,
But still I fight.
I try to escape all that I fear--
Hiding so many secrets,
Putting up walls,
But still they come near...
Breaching my defenses
Letting me know that they're always here.
If only you were here to protect me;
Maybe spare me some strength...
Give me some hope.
But that is not a light I'll ever see.
You've left me stranded,
On my own for eternity.
Soon I will have to fall in defeat.
Let them overtake me--
No surrender,
No retreat.
It is my destiny;
But why so bitter sweet?
