Self inflected

Am I really the only one to blame? Life is short yet, it is so long. So many things happen So many people change Who we are now, isn't the person we will be years form now So how can this pain be self inflicted only because I am the only one who realizes it? In a way I am a cruel person Not in the common way But in the way that I can so easily catch dreams out of the sky and rip them to shreds. That is what people fear the most isn't it? People dream so high and protect that dream with a cage of lies just to feel safe. I was cruel, every dream he had I batted it out of the air. But how is it my fault he dreamed? I begged and pleaded to him not to see me as this to good to be true thing. Yet he did anyway Blind He was blind, never saw a flaw or a mistake, only unrealistic beauty. This is rather silly isn't it? In my long short life that I am blessed with, I sit here dwelling on a first so called love. This choice was not self inflected It was logically chosen In this life people come and go. The going is the hardest but we just have to wait for the one who is coming.

Olliedawn
I fell like this poem is about moving of from petty things that bring us down and how we often have to look at the bigger picture.
