Self Love
In the rhythm,
I found strength,
In the beats,
I felt my heart
Pounding strongly against my chest,
Listening to words that ease the rest
As the rest of my body begins to calm
As the rastafarian rhythm
Continues on
The teachings of the man
Blessing everyone with soulful music on land,
Who tried to get people to understand
What life is meant to be,
To not be of this world,
To ultimatley not be dammned
Worrying is a foolish thing to do,
Your energy is precious,
Spend it only on the righteous like the wise men do
"Don't worry, be happy"
As the dreadlocks wave,
When I listen attentively,
I picture the smile on his face
When the peace overcame the fears,
And the doubts drowned in tears,
Bob Marley was the angel
Who mentored me through my younger years
A soul so carefree,
Full of love, hope, and humanity
Marley became apart of me
His teachings drive and motivate me
To be the woman that I am meant to be
No fears. No worries. Just to "be"
Exist in a world where for the longest,
I failed to see
That the only obstacle I was up against,
Was the reflection staring back at me.
Only now do I know,
Peace and love wholeheartedly
And I am forever grateful of the mentor he chose to be.
