Self-pity

Self-pity

Psalm 51:17

17 The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit—
O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject

A broken spirit towards self

or maybe just about?

It must be the latter

for how can one live without?

Broken in desires

wishing you were dead,

it is what is talked about

that makes it all so sad.

Guilt drives a person to this point,

when sin is compared with pure.

All we touch seems filthy

our thoughts, our words, manure.

When darkness seems to surround us

and nothing casts a shadow,

then the end seems within our reach

engulfed with self-sorrow.

Self is self that is all that counts.

Nothing else now matters.

Everything seems far away

like shadows that splatter.

Running all together

to get out of the way,

as I indulge myself in pity

and the farther then I stray.
