Selfish

Dear Selfish, I use to look in the mirror and hate who I saw looking back at me. I felt as though she was worthless, ugly and could never truly be loved by anyone, so I would hurt her sometimes cutting her until she would bleed. How could I live with someone that I hated, who is this person that wasn't perfectly created. I thought I could never love her, this feeling of emptiness and hatred would never subside. But, on my next birthday I cried for the first time as I looked at myself again in the mirror. The tears were those of relief and a regretful sigh. I finally recognized how beautiful and loved this girl in the mirror looked beyond the outside, with tears rolling down my face I apologized, her response was a simple smile. I knew from that smile that she had forgiven me. From that moment I made a vow to love, protect, and cherish that girl in the mirror. Love, Selfish
