Selfish

People dying in the streets

No longer able to hear the beats

Of the drum

As they beg for some

Just a bit of bread

Yet so many are left for dead

Reminiscent of the past

Of those starving in the camps

Another time, another place

One of war, one of race

Ideology kept alive

Through mass influx of racial crimes,

Claiming lives

 And bringing strife

Yet people thrive

Creating life

To the point of over-population

Adding only to social degradation

While man throws excuses and drapes

Over his crimes and rapes

And yet I don't care

Everything's smaller than a hair

To my selfish eyes

And I'm not paralyzed

When asked what would I change

No need to comb through my brain

Because I already know

Exactly where my thoughts would go

For I am human and selfish at heart

Unwilling to part

In any way

Hoping and praying for the day

When you can

See me as a man

Wishing you were back

To say one more time, "I love you, dad."
