The Selfish Truth

I write for myself.

I write for a pure, selfish wholesome feeling derived only

from the satisfaction of a completed poem.

Written by me.

My thoughts.

My words.

Whatever I wish to share.

In each piece I write,

I break off a little piece of my soul

and hand it to whoever decides to take it.

My soul travels,

often returning to me through

compliments about my work

or

when I rediscover poems I wrote

long ago.

A poem is a memory

and a sacred part of me.

Even though I share my memories with others,

my writing will always be for me.

It's what I do to spread myself around

the world.

To share my dreams,

my ideas,

and my soul

with anyone willing to take it.
