Selfless

You say I am a baby bird That has not learned how to fly You think that is the only reason I have not left your side You hope the grains you feed me Will help me grow and make me stay But as my feathers develop You fear that I will fly away So I ask: Dear boy, Why haven't you locked me in a cage? You would get to keep me forever You know I wouldn't be able to escape You answer: I love the way you tweet and sing And how you stumble in my hand But because I love you more I want you to explore the land
