Sensation

Neck bent, Eyes peer out of frozen lashes, One glance up Will tear them A hunched figure, Fighting against the skin searing wind, Any extremity unclothed Will burn. The bitter cold makes you want to Crouch into nothing Until you never have to move again. Shivers rack every fiber of your frame Not a single muscle can unwind Jaws clenched Hands made into firm fists You wrap your arms Ever tighter Around you Begging Pleading For warmth Then The sweet bliss Of numbness ensues You raise your head with your chin pointed upwards Unravel your shoulders Stretch your limbs Your spine stands straight You’ve never stood so tall Each icy gust brings you more upright The cold empowers you
