Separation

To handle the pain, I tell myself it is necessary

That the moment I lost you had to mean nothing at all

That sometimes the dark has to come before the dawn

That the way I loved you didn't mean anything at all

To wake up the next day, I have to force myself not to dream

Because I do not want to wake up in a world where you are still a part of me

I want to rip you out and claw out all the rest

Because if you still exist then every day will be a test

I don't want to let you down but I don't want you to leave me behind

I don't want to be a ghost of always trying

I don't want to be good enough but get none of the reward

Because there is nothing I can capture and there is nothing I can record

Pain is something so overused in my mind

I don't want to lose you but if I say that, I'll die

I am selfish to want all of your special to myself

I should let you shine, not place you on a shelf

I want to forget all the times that we shared

Because my heart is so close to never being repaired

Please love me now because I won't be yours forever

Love me now because we will never be together
