Separation

Missing a person is
Like watching
An hourglass
Run
Down.

You know inside
That you can
Stop
The falling sand,
The fleeting
Moments

Yet you cannot turn
It back
Over.
You feel numb.
You try to make
An effort to
Hold it together.

Yet how can you
Glue together
Two pups of the same
Litter who long to
Stay together?
Who may or may not
Belong together in
the excitement,
Trust,
And support that is true friendship.

You have to fix
It somehow,
Someway.
You cannot allow the
Attachment to hinder you
Any more than you can allow the
Attachment to fade.

In children, friendship seems
So fluid.
If you are torn apart, no hearts shall be
Permanently broken, though scars may remain.
We are older now, don't you agree?
We should hold on so there may be no regrets.

I shall hold on to the thread,
Frayed as it may get.
For as I will say time and time again,
This friendship isn't broken yet.
