September

The month I age the most, Memories of the good and bad, Haunting times and my birthday, Like the falling leaves, My mood collapses in vivid color, Twisting about in the wind, Left open to interpretation, Until I find myself laying in the grass, Missing faces and seeing the sky, The light blue seeming unreal, The chill in the air forcing me alive, While the joyous affections of those around, Contagious as they can be, Catch my breathe and stall me, As I walk with my head down, Crossing the street alone, In my lonely month of September.
