September 15th

september 15th, 2018

when i realized i was not a kid anymore

while i was not legally 18

i felt in me that i needed to be

something bigger than me

walking through

looking for homecoming dresses

then hearing that awful news

that you were no longer you

now, i miss you

but you taught me so much

you taught me how to love

you taught me how to live

you taught me to grow up

i thank you everyday for helping me

realizing that i can be more than just me

because of you

i am now grown up

i am no longer the same after losing you

but thank you for allowing me to grow
