Let me speak my words
so they do not cry
and bleed into my dreams
when Death be nigh
for all the contusions
and lacerations draw blood
from my veins and my heart
screaming “what have you done?”
I’ve let loose the river
the rage beneath
let it all run ravage
no Will left back to keep
and blinding, confining
bound and gagged for the beasts
noose at my neck
lest the river make thy breath not cease
Lobotomize what I only know
douse me in amnestic medication
make me forget, erase my past
‘til memory be put in cessation
decorticate me and make me new
to something I wasn’t before
make me better, make me worse
someone to love, or to abhor
End my words before they be free
suppress emotion, asphyxiate
and let the river deluge the lands
something Death would officiate
silence the qualm within my mind
the utterance that cries for affection
drop the floor beneath me and let the rope pull
to stop the voices from screaming “what have you done?”
