Serenity
We pass through this life
Absorbed in our worlds.
Hardly looking beyond our own spheres.
Yet when we take the effort and truly see,
We see the remarkable happen:
Our problems take a backburner,
The focus turns around,
Mocking smiles become sincere,
As we begin to realize
There is an enormous world out there.
With thousands of peoples and cultures.
So many experiences left to taste!
But we're stuck in our bubbles,
This world clouded from view.
People pass by and they often say "hi"
But their smiles are simply lies
That will never brighten their eyes.
But I watch from my window
The people that pass
And hear the gentle laughter
That rides the swift breeze.
I see the majestic mountians
Raised in the background
And filled with the wonder of life.
The vibrant colors of leaves.
The richness in the grass.
The staggering beauty of those that are close.
So thanks be to He
Who lifted me high,
And opened my sight,
To the wondrous joys that surround me!
