"Set Fire To The Rain"

Standing in the window, Emotionless and still, was a girl. I watched her from the street As the rain poured down all around me. She was crying, but made no sound, No movement, no facial expression. I could see an orange glow, The only speck of color in this black and white world. She was holding it, the girl, and slowly she was bringing it closer to her face. Shocked as I was, I couldn’t bring myself to try and stop her, so I just watched. A large tear came crashing from her left eye once she blinked, and it slowly slid to her face. She closed her eyes, took the orange glow, and lit that tear on fire. The left side of her face became badly burned, and my legs were finally responding to my mind. A tear ran down my face as I raced towards her front door as she cried another tear and lit the right side of her face on fire. But I began to feel a burning sensation, right under my left eye. Confused, I stopped and looked into the window for the girl as the right side of my face began to burn. Past the flames and the already present burn marks, I looked into the girl’s eyes. My sight became blurry and I no longer felt my legs underneath me. The girl was falling just as I was. And just before I completely blacked out, I realized that that girl Was me.

I was inspired by Adele's song "Set Fire To The Rain" and decided to write my interpretation of the song.
