Set free


I could have given you roses but you’d want sunflowers.
I could have given you water but you’d want it tainted. 
I could have given you warmth but you’d rather enjoy the cold. 
I could have given you strength but you’d want the rope instead. 
I could have given you a home yet you’d choose to wander. 
If I could have given you the moon I bet you’d still ask me for the stars instead.
If I could let you go, I’d say you’d be the one to ask me to.
Then you’d sail into the unknown once more.
You think If I could just let you go, maybe then I’d finally be set free?
