Seven Leagues

Seven leagues out to sea
Swimming further down
The water is a murky green
The bottom is soft silt brown
There's times I wished for fire
While rain poured down the side
Warmth or light will soon perspire
Where droplets quickly glide
It's hard to feel like drowning
While washed up on the shore
But when the rain keeps pounding
There's a fierceness it can't ignore
Floating on an island
Where the sun just maybe shines
With cheap fire held in my hand
And the raindrops run new lines
I'm staring seven leagues
But I wonder if it's up or down
I'm burning up to quickly
For me to ever drown
-M
