Seven Stages of ME

June 22nd, a Cancer, hazel eyes

Where gentle music lies

B-R-I-A-N-A

She's perfect they say

Days later, only two

A loving mother with no clue

Music soft, the crib, eyes closed

Mother, daughter, a fall breeze blows

Soon, a man, a ring, a dad

A new life doesn't seem so bad

He laughs, the park, they're no longer alone

He cares for her just like his own

Later, marriage, new home, a baby

A-M-A-N-D-A

Stubborn and hearty they say

Briana loves her, jealous to the core

No longer just two or three, now four

Middle school, awkward, boy in a hood

She hears that he is just no good

No attention paid

Her decision has been made

High school, music, choir, song

What she's been waiting for for so long

A life without his drama, pain

Stress free, she's done with his game

Never true to his word

Lies that make my stomach curd

A father he was never

Her pride he tried to sever

He fails, she wins, a young woman now

Boy in the hood, handsome and tall

Seniors, kissing in the hall

Young love, stupid and crazy

It all makes school a bit too hazy

A package, an email, acceptance letter

Her life can't get any better

Smiles, tears, hopes and dreams

They strive to be kings and queens

College, auditions

Bri is on a mission

To fulfill a life of music and passion

Going to class in a timely fashion

So, where to now?

An angel of music, she sings

Tears in her eyes, as her voice rings

Her mother, the joy she brings

On the marquise one hot June day B-R-I-A-N-A
