Seven Ways of Looking at the Moon
1. Among the stars sits
The eye of the universe,
Huge and round
2. It looks down onto the earth
Watching the living
and guarding the night
3. The glowing sphere appears
In the sky like
An ornament worn by a holiday tree
4. Lighting up the night
And reassuring us that
We are not alone
5. On a clear night
It's reflection can be seen
on the glistening mirror of nature
6. It travels along the skyline
Taking turns with sun
Always in opposition
7. A floating mass in the sky above
Which controls the
Tides of our world
