Seventeen

17 came faster than I could think

Years pasted without a fluttering heart

17 years without the love I see in the movies

17 years without a connection

My friends laugh at my innocence

I smile and pretend too laugh as well

But down beneath the layers of my life

17 numbs my heart and fuels my pain
