Shackled to the Agreeing

I stare before this mirror and doubt who I am,

Society has taken charge of my label, although it is a sham

They seem to find quick answers and assume to know

The person that’s before them has already started the show

Assumptions and conclusions is what they have shackled to my being

And all who stand around me seem to be agreeing

The chain I carry appears to grow longer as I pass them by, one by one

They seem to look at me with knowledge of my actions that I have done

My labels are carried on every link that has clicked on

My back seems to weigh heavier and the path now seems very long

Each moment that I walk crippled by this chain

There never seems to be a helping hand to tell me “None of this you should abstain”.

The path seems to go nowhere, now I am very lost

I stare before this mirror not knowing who’s across

Allowing to be defined by others instead of my own being

Is what we all do to be a part of the agreeing.
