Shackles And Slavery
Feet In Shackles And Slavery
Sometimes this world feels like a prison
Feet in shackles and like slavery
Hands tied and tears you cannot hide
Time you cannot turn back
Love lost and wounds that will not heal
And blood that bleeds and you have become numb to the pain
Chains of bondage like a noose
Around my throat making it hard to breathe
Like a rope hanging from a tree
And your listless body that no longer weeps
Tears that roll down my eyes it’s like life is in a quagmire
And it feels like long before I came on this earth
This story had already been written for me
Like a death sentence you were born with
That you just cannot escape
The noise is deafening and a shiver runs down my spine
The angst that I feel deep within my soul
This inner turmoil within me screaming in agony
Dread keeping me awake at nights
And as I looked in the mirror
I could see the disquiet etched on my face
That I feel at this treachery and betrayal
And once again I woke up filled with trepidation
Cold sweat breaking on my forehead
And my palms all clammy breaking in sweat
No matter how hard I try or where I run away
Once again it feels like this path had been paved for me
Long before I took my first breath in this inhuman race
Reminding me how cruel this world can sometimes be with no escape
Then I close my eyes once again and death feels like a beautiful escape
Then in the distance I hear the church gong ringing and I realize
That it is not always about your religion but about other people’s religion as well
When you are bleeding and this life makes absolutely no sense
And you are at the crossroads of your life once again and all lost in confusion
Remember that when one door closes another opens
God wanted us to smile and that is why we breathe and that is the reason
