Shades of Grey

I am so fatigued; my eyes have grown fuzzy,
The words have turned rigid and bland.
From White to Grey to Black-
I can feel the slipping of sand.
Every second, every minute, every day,
I will be here, wasting my life away.

I have happily forgotten the start,
Though I suspect it began with birth.
From White to Grey to Black-
I am so cold and burn for rest.
Block out their cries, embrace the pain,
I am still here, wasting my life away.

Ah my chilled relief.
I fall upon a bed of glass.
Turning from White to Grey to Black-
My withered bones are blown to ash.
My last glimpse of forlorn faces, wishing I had stayed,
Instead of wasting my life away.
