Shadow
Flashes of lights all around her
Black, blue, red, black, blue, red.
Warm bodies encompass her,
Methodically bouncing to the music.
she’s lost in a sea of people.
Too loud to hear her own thoughts, let alone talk.
She makes her way outside
As the crisp, cool air strikes my flushed cheeks.
She heads inside saying terse goodbyes,
Leaving her friends behind to the mob.
She chugs her water and stroll to the car.
Gone.
All black.
Blurry strong arms holding her up.
All black.
Blurry forceful hands pushing her into a bedroom.
All black.
Echoes of a harsh, dark voice as if miles away.
All black.
Weak hands trying to push away his.
Gone.
Wake up alone, cold.
First sights into the silver vanity reflect a girl with no recollections, only horrifying flashes.
A girl with scratch marks.
A girl with hickies.
A girl with bruises.
No one she’s ever seen before.
Wrapping arms around herself to try to hold the broken pieces together.
Salty water running down her face.
Hiding in the shadows from obvious ridicule.
“Your fault”
“You were drunk”
“You led him on”
“You’ll ruin his life”
“Bitch”
Quiet she sits.
A shadow of a person.
Forever.
