Shadow

Did it seem all natural to you?

The way I acted

The way my pleading mouth forced into a smile

The way I retreated back into a wholesome being

Looking completely all natural--

Yes, all natural

And there I was left closing in

The soul that is feeling so helplessly alone.

Lovely, she is putting on another act.

Who could have guessed it was all a lie though,

That beyond the optimism, sadness was its shadow.

I want it to stop.

Let me press the pause button.

Yet, the child in me wants something

Wants the work to reel my soul back in

I wanted it so badly

The happiness everybody seems to be sharing

With each other and not with me.

Breathe. Clear your head.

No. It is too late for that.

I know where the end is.
