Shadows
Whitewash walls
Pale skinned faces
Where the shadows hide
In the loneliest of places
Ducking behind shoulders
Hiding behind doors
Where the beams kiss the walls
Where the walls meet the floors
Splitting at the seams
Refusing to break
Bending, contorting
A black and grey lake
Swallowed by the sun
as it runs from the east
Reborn with the moon
As the stars are released
Inspired by the sky
By the light of the night
The darkness won’t die
The shadows will fight
Obscurity prevails
When the sun meets its end
In the night it shall play
In the night they pretend
Mocking the ways of the pale and the white
Until the cries of the sparrows
Kiss the shadows goodnight
