The Shadows of Time

I know of an old man with a beard
A pipe, a grin, and a wink in his eye
He would sit in his old antique shop
Making smoke rings and telling stories
Of adventures and the old days
Before the shadows of time arose

I know of an old shop by the road
With a faded sign and a glass door
The old man would give peppermints to children
As the others relived old memories
Of adventures and the old days
Before the shadows of time arose

I know of an old cobblestone road
Where business was once heavy and thick
And the streets were crowded all day
Now silent but for that old antique shop
Silent in the yellow lamp light
When the shadows of time arose

I know of a little old town
Where the old man tends to his old shop
By the cobblestone road
Once a lively, happy town
Now silent beneath the mountains
When the shadows of time arose
