Shaken and Awakened

We are being shaken

so we can awaken.

Global events are our clocks:

Take heed, these are not jokes.

It starts at the very base,

for inner and World peace, we must plead or case.

From Rumi to Shakespeare, it has been written,

these are not the cries, of a soft little kitten.

We must start working on our very own selves,

don’t wait for wizards or magical elves.

The ego, pride, and greed, they are not strangers,

we all have them, these are the real dangers!

So, what must we do

to see this through?

Start with the basics, loving us as our neighbor,

then in God’s eyes we might find favor.

Only when there is nothing left to be shaken,

perhaps then we will truly awaken.
