A Shallow Living

It is never warm around here There is no one close, nothing near Only myself, this I fear It has always been this way. No one’s arms to hold me tight No lovely company through the night Just myself within sight I am used to it by now. I live for self, this is true A real friend, few I knew Time to kill with naught to do This has gotten old. An outgoing man, I am not Friendliness, I was never taught I speak my tongue into a knot Were I only smooth. I plan to change my lonely ways But months pass on as if days I would love to say 'tis just a phase Yet I find no peace in lies.
