Shallow Water
Gold grasps the walls
Tears at its flimsy seams
Pulls and pulls- Until it falls
Preening at its shallow dreams
Shadows infringe upon the watery plight
The champagne sky
- That beloved starry night
Captured as it was, the by and by
Birds of a feather
Birds of a kind
Who flee fair weather
No longer tethered -No bind . . .
Creeping to the sound
Pull and pull
Will they drown?
In that glamorous hole
New York Cityscape
Monday morning, never wake
Dream and dream- can’t escape
Breathe and breathe, never break
The walls melt into gold
Pooling at the feet
Of a man not so old
To fairly entreat
No longer lost, stupidly found
A brother of a mother
Kicked out of town
Ultimately smothered
Forgotten not forgiven
And in the end, no longer living
But alive in the corners of the mind
In the margins of a paper
They curl and cower and bloom
Slipping and sliding out of consciousness
They are my words
Mine to love
And mine to hate
A glorious reflection of myself
- The imperfections and the beauty
That lies beneath soulful eyes
Eyes that observe and notice and cry
