Shame

She stole away in shame

As she felt her sudden sorrow swell

Shame in her tactless tears

She turned away too late

She chanced a glance at those eyes

Saw the gaping goulish gaze

Through her back the eyes bore

Baiting blame and beating blue

Her mother saw her shame.
