Shanghai

The city is expertly lighted, The shadows create drama, The corners contain mystery. The buildings are the work of the most unrestrained imaginations, Winding itself into sensual patterns, Fluid curves that have never quite enjoyed motion. Only the city that surrounds the river. However, On my way to work, On a highway, An intricate, sculptural, highway, We saw a woman carrying a child in her arms, She stood under the bright ivory winding bridge, Begging. She kidnapped and drugged the boy, He was only a few years old. She wanted to sell him to those rushing by, To make a profit. To live in the glittering city around the river.
