Sharks in Love

Because I love you
I’m getting lost in your ocean blue eyes
And I’m swimming to the island
That provides solace and comfort
I’m swimming to the only place I can get away

Because I love you
I pay no mind to the sharks in the water
The ones that leave me ripped open
Torn, and black and blue

It’s because I love you
I continue to wear the big sweaters
That cover what you’ve done to my body
To my mind and my soul
What you’ve done to everything that I am

I love you
And you must love me too
Or else you wouldn’t pay so much attention
To my every move

Because I love you
You have to spend your every waking moment with me
Telling me it will all be okay
That our love will be okay

I need you
And you should need me too
Because I’m your everything

You love me
I let you find a home in my freckles
The spots that fill your lungs
Until they collapse

Because we love each other
We’ll destroy each other
