Shattered

Thu, 02/28/2019 - 11:15 -- Em_M

Gold and brown feathers

Once gleaming,

Now muted.

By the towering clouds

Of grey

And black

Fury that rages

Behind and above and below.

And now I fly as fast as I can,

But I'm being surrounded,

By the storm of my own creation-

It's trapping me

And I can't get out.

An Eagle caught

By the winds

Which it once ruled.

Now lightning spews angrily

And thunder booms.

As I dodge and struggle

To stay flying.

The sun is so close,

Yet so far.

My wings are weighed down

By the drops that I've cried-

SNAP!

And I'm swirling

Out of control-

Falling down through the chaos

My wings are limp

Beside me.

Broken

As they fail to keep me

Free and flying
