Shattered Glass

Crumpled napkin promises left on the floor
Standing there you're left wanting more
Don't you know that I've been here before?

But nothing makes it better, only worse
And on the rack lies your empty purse
It makes you feel you're living a curse

And the vacant bed means he's gone again
And all over you feel only pain
What can take the edge off again?

Forbidden paramours sneak out at night
In the skin they twist and then they bite
And you finally give into the fight

Sick and drenched you begin to cry
And now all you want to do is die
But you can only shudder a sigh

Once again, you pick up the parts
Of yourself and now you call it art
And all that's left is your broken heart

And you know he's back and cares this time
And the pain has stopped again this time
So just let the love heal you this time
