She
Time,
its ticking as she faces the mirror wondering why she can’t be like those other girls.
You know slim waist, big butt, brazilian curls?
Lost in the world,
not knowing who she is,
the pain is well hidden as she smiles.
The journey has been long but she,
she’s confused with the logic of society.
But the refusal of society makes living in it extremely challenging.
Trying to be unique but the dolled up life is able to fascinate her interest.
She is a queen at heart,
but on the outside she’s typical, easy to read.
That girl who is loud but unheard.
Seen but not to the naked eye because she’s so shy.
Belittled everyday and yet this girl stands tall.
She smiles to hide the pain.
Evidently it’s hard to drain the tears that she’s drowning in,
because she’s not pretty like those other girls.
Unnoticed.
A shadow in the dark,
Ready to come to the light.
Questioning what she wears asking “does this look right?”.
Time, is ticking and she can’t seem to find a way out.
Slowly drifting back into that picture perfect image without a doubt.
Hiding her face with make-up,
Her eyes with color contacts,
Giving herself a new image,
not knowing that she is beautiful.
No matter how much she hears it,
she can’t seem to believe it.
Its kind of hard she can't see it because this girl has been broken into pieces.
Shaped to believe that she couldn’t be anything different,
Until she realized that her life is not distinctive.
She’s just like everyone else and shows no uniqueness.
Now she’s picking up the pieces, everyone seems so speechless, at her approach.
She, she’s setting new trends as people begin to follow,
building herself up and blocking out her rivals.
Pushing herself forward not worried about what others may think because she’s truly unique.
Standing tall and she’ll never go back because she won’t let herself fall for that person who she used to be.
This girl is me,
and I refuse to accept the society, in which, I can’t express my inner and outer beauty.
I will take the road not taken,
Diverse from the presumed beauty and fluctuate my own.
