She
She came to me in many ways.
Music, butterflies, taste
She was a part of me from the beginning
Coming to me in dreams and kisses and swing sets
She was my keeper.
As I grew our love affair became complicated
No longer effortless but dependent
She was there but had more requirements, demands
Limitations.
Where did she go?
Why did she leave?
From night terrors to lack of self esteem
My protector seemed to be nowhere in sight.
The world grew dark.
But not for long.
She came back to me.
Through self exploration I found her again
She stares back at me in shimmers of glass.
A yellow gleam of light, my happiness
May she never truly leave me.
