She

I write this of a girl I used to know;

We used to laugh, and play in the snow;

I former loved her, and she to me;

But a young boy I was, and did not see;

I denied her love, but later regret;

She moved away, so I try to forget;

Then she returned, but for a day or two;

And I longed to tell her, “I still love you”;

But then she left again, so I must say;

I hope to see her, again one day;

But now she’s still gone, but yet I reach;

So I “pray the Lord, my soul to keep”;

I write this now, and much time it takes;

To tell you of, my ignorant mistake;
