She
She feels like she's missing out on life.
She's giving up on love.
She stares at the city lights
and she wonders what's above.
Penthouse uptown,
yet she still feels below.
Every morning she awakes with a frown
as if her smile and her world are both upside down.
Where is love to be found?
Scared to look into her heart so she looks up to God.
Praying through the night, something that she never forgot.
He sends her an angel, but she doesn't notice.
Her dreams were here focus...
and he was just peripheral.
He never spoke about his feelings
so she never knew about his feelings.
His eyes stared at hers and saw love.
Her eyes started at his and saw nothing...
No spark.
She made it.
Her dreams were accomplished so she was left with nothing but nightmares.
Not knowing her new dreams were laying right there...
Next to her, staring at her peaceful sleep.
He lays his head on her chest and hears a heartbeat...
Hoping one day his heart will whisper her name...
She wakes up from a nightmare
and gives him a crazy stare.
He promises to protect her from all things,
points to her heart and says "I'll always be right there."
And before she can respond...
her angel disappears.
