SHE BROKE MY HEART

By Debi Lyn 09/19/22

As if enough MEN hadn’t already done the same –

now it hurts me deeply just to say her name.

I thought our connection a most amazing thing.

Her touch, her smile, her eyes – truly made my heart sing.

Turns out, of course, that none of it was real –

now I’m left to figure out just how I feel.

I was sure another woman I could never love,

But perhaps twas something else I was dreaming of.

So I let myself consider trying one more time,

but since it’s not going to be, I wrote this rhyme.

Holly Marie, Holly Marie!

She’ll likely never know what she did to me.

When she touched my body, she touched my soul –

And the thought of us together made me feel whole.

But when the game became obvious, it all fell apart.

Just like so many MEN before, she broke my heart.
