She came in from playing

She came in from playing in the creek With the boy who lived next door And her brother read books And her sister played with toys And mom and dad went on dates At church she saw a girl her sister's age with no hair And she thought about it before she went to sleep She came home from Wednesday night church With the boy who played guitar And her brother did his homework And her sister played with friends And mom and dad went on dates At school she heard what happened to the bald girl from church And she struggled to understand before she went to sleep She came home from dancing With the boy who bruised her arms And her brother didn’t make many friends And her sister chatted online with a boy And mom and dad stopped going on dates At school she heard about a football player who put a bullet in his head And she prayed for him when she went to sleep She came home from dragging her feet With the boy who called her names And her brother prepped for college And her sister cried about a boy And mom complained about dad At school the teachers told her about a boy who overdosed And she cried for him when she went to sleep She came home after moving far away A boy cried when she left And her brother stayed behind And her sister missed her friends And mom and dad were quiet She heard that a classmate died right after graduation And she thought too much about it when she went to sleep She came home from college She hasn’t heard from the boy in weeks And her brother was too busy with school And her sister didn’t smile anymore And mom wouldn’t talk to dad or anyone else She wondered if people would think of her It was the last time she would fall asleep(poems go here)
