She Dreams

Down the alleys of South Central, Resides a girl: a girl who dares. Dares to dream. Every morning she awakens. As she walks towards her future, pencil and eraser in hand, the wind whistles and whispers. Murmurs: “Mexicans are meant to be menial. Stop trying.” But she pays no attention to these groans. She continues towards that bright, illuminating path. Where her future awaits; True, she may have to cross that barbed-wire border Of stress, suffering, and sacrifice, But by tomorrow, everything will be better. Indeed, She will Succeed Within her dream, there is a gleam: A gleam of hope: She will succeed!
