She Falls

She falls Deeper into the pit of depression It's crippling Suffocating and crushing her bones But it's so much more than that, it always is It's her spirit being broken, her soul being smashed, her clarity being fogged, her eyes growing weary, her mind being bombarded Her high's are higher than everest Her lows are the quick jump from the top Falling faster than a Nascar speed race, setting record timing The names she's called by those who only see scars, by those who only see the physical result of a trouble beyond repair What they don't know is what has been done She's a warrior, on a battlefield we call life She's struggling with the pain, and hurting with the strife The used her for her passion The animals taking her as their prey, and now those are the scars that remain She's crying out for something more But she doesn't feel worth fighting for So she'll do all the fighting She'll do all the writing And those "sticks and stones" talked about in nursery rhyming Are creating a horror that is nail-biting She's on the edge, about to break She doesn't know how much she can take The echos replay like a broken record No one stood up, no one would tell her That cliche saying "beauty is skin deep" That life is a jump, don't be afraid to leap Well she's leaping Just off the wrong mountain She'll never forget the mockery By the 5th grade drinking fountain She walks down the halls And their heads shake in disappointment So she goes and schedule's another "counseling appointment" When will she get better When will she be free When will she realize She is her own beauty And when will they realize This monstrosity called "she" Is overtaking "me."
