She Keeps It
Simple dimple
Little to no pimple
She keeps it simple
Little makeup on face
Hair up afro way
Skin stay
Fresh clean night day
Not for another
Brother
Lover just because her looks come okay
Hassle another hustle
Instead of over application
Of beauty modification
Tools
School is a better course
Of course
Geek nerd
Thoughts on the fly
Bird
Eagle eye
On the focus as culture dictate
Slower rate of progress
Because of
Sex not fair but
To share care is to sit at the table
Be able to effect it
Correct it
Simple dimple little to no pimple she keeps it simple
Charge up the battery pack up the ammo
For not long now tomorrow
She will change the world

Mohamed Tarqui Jalloh is a Sierra Leonean Poet and Spoken Word artist. Intrigued by the genius of words from a tender age, he Co-founded The Village Poetry Collective SL in 2016 for young Sierra Leoneans who are creative in all forms of art. The Village Collective have since hosted spoken word events in 2016 and 2018. He is also a member of The Sierra Leone Writers Forum and Tok U Tok, another group of mainly Sierra Leone Creatives. He serves as Grand Master of Ceremony and Secretary for International African Writers Association, a pan African writers group changing the African narrative, and Vice President of the Sierra Leonean Chapter. He is currently working on a spoken word album.
