She Lies Within

Athena, Goddess of Wisdom and Battle Strategy,

Minerva, the wise old owl’s

    spirit

is inside me

    perhaps

as my (middle) namesake.

Her wisdom breathes

    down

my neck,

    courses

through my

    brain

the gray-matter

    ever-expanding,

     contracting,

moving miles

 and miles

within a minute. Knowing

that her soul

    reaches

many women

     touches

my own heart;

women ambitious,

   intelligent,

full of strategies

needed to get through life.

Beautiful goddesses

    lie

in each

and every-one

of us;

aren’t we all

   divine?

Her spirit lies

    within

 each woman,

an owl on the hunt,

   wings spread,

ready to take a dive

And

            jump

                    into the waters

                                 of life.
